KOBANÊ - Turkey, which is required to release 500 cubic meters of water per second from the Euphrates River to Syria in accordance with the international agreement, has reduced this rate to below 200 cubic meters in order to destabilize Northern and Eastern Syria.

 

In addition to its military operations against Northern and Eastern Syria, Turkey is violating the waters of the Euphrates River. Turkey, which sees the Kurds as a threat, also wants to destabilize the region by turning down the water. The Mesopotamia Agency (MA) recorded an aerial view of the water shortage that Turkey has been causing through for months.

 

Turkey, which has not fulfilled the requirements of the international agreement signed between Iraq, Syria and Turkey on July 17, 1987, is required to release 500 cubic meters of water per second to the Syrian border according to the agreement. Turkey has reduced the water flow to less than 200 cubic meters per second.

 

Turkey, which causes the spread of various diseases by preventing the right to water, also makes life difficult in many areas such as electricity production and agricultural activities.

 

In addition to Raqqa, Deir Zor, Kobanê and Manbij in the river basin of the Euphrates, Aleppo, Syria's largest city, is affected by water shortages.
