ADANA - People in Adana are flocking to the festival area with the slogan 'Let's resist with Newroz fire and liberate ourselves' while dancing the halay.

 

People started to gather at the Mimar Sinan Open Air Theater from the early hours of the morning for Newroz celebrated in Adana under the leadership of the Democratic Party of Rights (HDP) with the slogan "Let's resist with the Newroz fire, let's liberate ourselves". Banners writing “Let's resist with the Newroz fire, let's liberate ourselves", "Em bi agirê Newrozê li ber xwe bidin bi ser bikevin","HDP is hope, it cannot be silenced","Bi jinan diguhere","We are determined in the persistent struggle of freedom","Hoping courage, solidarity to the hopeful tomorrows" were hung in the festival area.

 

HDP Adana MP Kemal Peköz, Central Executive Board (MYK) and Party Assembly (PM) members, People's House Chairman Nebiye Mert Türk, Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), and representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations in the city are attending the festivities along with people from all ages.

 

INTOLERANCE TO COLOURS GREEN, YELLOW AND RED

 

People have to get through three search points to enter the area. 2 people were detained by the police at the check point on grounds that there is a warrant against them. Police did not allow scarves with the colours green, yellow and red and did not allow the flagpoles to the area.

Women look colourful at the festival site with their children and local clothes. People are dancing the halay while people keep flocking to the area.
