ANKARA - Former AKP MP Abdürrahim Aksoy, protesting the removal of HDP's Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu from being a member of the parliament, said, "Closing the party is never the solution. Especially closing the party of the Kurds is not a solution ”.

Former AKP Bitlis MP Abdurrahim Aksoy who was sitting at the press desk at the time shouted, 'Long live libertarian democracy, long live democratic Turkey, down with the autocracy!' when the decision to strip Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu was read at the General Assembly.

Aksoy evaluated the law suit to ban HDP and his protest yesterday at the parliament for Mesopotamia Agency (MA).

Stating that at the session where Gergerlioğlu was stripped of his status as a member of the parliament, approximately 15 representatives spoke by taking the floor and there was not a single mention of the anti-democratic practices implemented in Turkey, said, "Everyone who spoke talked about the parking problems of their city, the infrastructure of the city, but nobody reacted to this anti-democratic situation."

Aksoy said that's why he stood up and showed his reaction.

'IT WAS A SYMBOLIC MOVE'

Aksoy mentioned that the decision was read by MHP's Deputy Chairperson Celal Adan, underlined that it was a symbolic move and said: "It certainly contained a symbolic message. It is possible to interpret this in every way. In fact, AKP and MHP are two political parties that allied to drag Turkey to anti democratic practices. They have an attitude which is against the development of the Kurds and democracy. It is possible that this move aimed to hurt the Kurds. They are so out of sense that assuming the worse in any situation is possible."

'GOVERNMENT WANTS TO ANNIHILATE THE KURDS'

Stating that the AKP, his former party, rules the country arbitrarily and without any ethiccs, Aksoy said: "I believe they want to annihilate the Kurds."

Aksoy said: "No democratic and humanitarian values matter to him. This is what he's doing now. For the sake of staying in power; they can easily sacrifice the Kurds and any humanitarian values. They have no principles."

'KURDS ARE RESISTING'

Emphasizing that party closures cannot be a solution in any way, Aksoy said: “Closing the party is never a solution - it has been clear since 1994 that its not. Especially closing the party of the Kurds is not a solution. Because the political movement of the Kurds is based on a sociological base. Kurds are being denied and assimilated for years and they don't accept that. And it is getting stronger with every new generation. Therefore, closing HDP will not solve the Kurdish issue nor it will end the struggle of the Kurds. This is not a solution. The solution is to recognize the existance of this nation. To recognize their birthright democratic rights. There are dozens of examples for this. Closing parties have never been a solution."
