İZMİR - Taken into custody in operations against the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) on January 14, 5 people have been arrested while 27 people have been released on judicial control measures.
After the members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) were taken into custody in house raids of the police as part of an investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Thursday (January 14), 20 people have been referred to court with a request for their arrest while 27 people have been released on probation after the related formalities were completed at the prosecutor's office.
Gülşah Padak has been arrested. Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Pınar Gayıp has been released with the condition of house arrest. Court has also imposed an international travel ban on journalist Pınar Gayıp. Ceren Çoban, Alev Özkiraz and Socialist Women's Assemblies (SKM) Central Executive Board member Satiye Ok have also been placed under house arrest.
Detained as part of the same operation, the following people have been referred to the court to be arrested and they are still being interrogated by the court: Lawyer Özlem Gümüştaş, Levent Akhan, Pınar Türk, Deniz Bakır, Ezgi Bahçeci, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Sıtkı Güngör, Kerim Altınmakas, Atilla Dalkılıç, Hakan Kafadar, Seyit Cem Çakmak, Rıdvan Coşkun, Burak Yılmaz, Begüm Ateş.
