ANKARA - Turkey will be imposing partial curfews on the days when the nationwide high school and university exams will be held on June 20, 27 and 28. The partial curfews will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. on June 20 and 27, whereas it will be in effect on June 28 between 9.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., the Interior Ministry said.

Turkey will be imposing partial curfews nationwide on the weekends when the high school and higher education entrance exams will be held in late June, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on June 18.

While the High School Entrance Exam (LGS) will be taking place on June 20, the Higher Education Entrance Exams will be held on June 27 and 28.

The curfew will be implemented between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 20 and 27, with exceptions, the Interior Ministry said. The lockdown will also be in effect on June 28 between 9.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.

While persons who have intercity bus tickets will be exempt from the curfew, small businesses like bakeries, super markets and bodegas will remain open too.

“Our president has ordered a partial curfew to avoid congestion before and after the exam, and to have the day RESERVED FOR THE YOUTH,” Koca tweeted.

The minister also noted that the COVID-19 Science Committee advised on extra precautionary measures on exam days.
