Artists from the Black Sea: Salvation comes with the struggle 2020-06-07 13:08:15   İSTANBUL - Saying that the state took side with the capitalists in pillaging of the Black Sea Region that is famous for its unique natural beauties, artists from the Black Sea regaion called out, "It is not possible to defeat these attacks without struggle".   The Black Sea Region has come to the fore in recent years with Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPP), quarries and cyanide mineral explorations. The unique nature of the Black Sea has been continuously destroyed step by step through the search for gold with cyanide in Fatsa district of Ordu and Cerattepe of Artvin, the HEPP projects in Artvin and Rize, and finally the 5th plant to be established on the Çanakçı Stream in Giresun. While the natural structure of the plateaus and valleys deteriorates via stone quarries and road projects, tea and hazelnut fields, which are the resources of the main livelihoods of the local people, are greatly affected by these projects, and the yields of the products are decreasing day by day.   Calling people to be aware of the nature plunder in the region, artists from the Black Sea region mephasized that it is not possible to stop the nature plunder without the struggle.   FUAT SAKA: IF WE KEEP APATHETIC THEY WILL CONTINUE   Stating that many plants have gone extinct due to the fact that HPPs drained the streams in their region, songwriter and singer Fuat Saka told that the mine and quarry projects ruin the climate resulting in landslides and floods.    "If we keep apathetic these people will continue to ruin our lives. That is why we must act. There is a good deal of resistances in the region, unfortunately not enough. Everybody should claim and protect their nature" said the folkssinger, inviting the public to behave sensitive and act accordingly.   APOLAS LERMİ: TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE NATURE   "There are news regarding what is going on Uzungöl and Aydar Plateaus, as they are the touristic regions. However, in every village you visit in Black Sea, there are the constructions of quarries and mines", said Apolar Lermi.   Stating that the local people try to make their voices heard, but the impact of these has decreased over time as the reactions bcome ordinary, the folkssinger said "I am trying to play the sounds of the struggle as much as I can. The history, the culture, the nature in Turkey should be protected and transferred to the future. This is a matter of humanity and as conscience. Take your hand out of nature".    HİKMET AKÇİÇEK: WE SHOULD STRUGGLE   Hikmet Çiçek, the meber of the folksband Vova, who make their music in their mother language Hamsheni, drew attention to the point that even during the days of pandemic, the capitalists have never stopped doing what they do. "It is not possible to defeat these attacks without struggle. In order to protect at least some space, the struggle shall be raised. We support the struggle of this volks as much as we can and try to participate in the struggle" said Çiçek, adressing to the many resistances of the local people have organized until today and the necessity to continue this line of local struggles on the ground of nature exploitation.   MA / Tolga Güney       edy
