HDK Health Assembly: 'Herd immunization' strategy being followed 2020-04-30 16:22:30 İSTANBUL - HDK Health Council stressed that the fight against the Kovid-19 outbreak is actually the “herd immunization” strategy. It was stated that the daily data announced by the Ministry are indicative of “controlled herd immunity”. In a written statement it issued today, the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Health Council said: "The government Strategy to Fight the Covid-19 Outbreak is not clear. In fact, it is not a 'preventing' strategy.'    To explain their critics the HDK listed a number of examples, among which are the following    "Population aged 65 and under 20, working population continue their daily life. The stay at home discourse does not cover this population. Social distance and hand hygiene suggestions were made. With workers using public transportation to go to work, the social distance at workplaces is often been ignored.   The population aged 65 and under 20, who are obliged to stay at home, unfortunately share the same living environment thus carrying the virus home.   Lockdown was imposed during weekends but not on weekdays. The people, who could not go out on the weekend, went out massively on weekdays filling markets.   Although it has been announced that tests will be done, the number of daily tests is not in line with the logarithmic increase of the cases. The daily number of tests is still extremely low.   Isolation, quarantine is practically voluntary and done by those who can do it."   The HDK said that the number of infected people is increasing by the day, yet production is still going on. "It is our primary responsibility to act against the insufficiency of the government in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and to expand social struggle."
