Journalist Sweeney starts 24 hour symbolic hunger strike 2020-04-25 08:28:14  ANKARA - British Morning Star Newspaper International Editor Steve Sweeney has announced that he will start a 24-hour support hunger strike for Mustafa Koçak who lost his life yesterday, death fasting for a fair trial and Grup Yorum member Helin Bölek who also lost her life during a death fast few weeks ago, for the removal of the ban on Grup Yorum concerts. Morning Star Newspaper International Editor and founder of Journalists for Democracy in Turkey and Kurdistan, Steve Sweeney announced that he is starting a 24 for hour hunger strike for not only Helin Bölek and Mustafa Koçak who lost their lives but also for Grup Yorum member İbrahim Gökçek and Attorneys Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal.   Sweeney said : "My name is Steve Sweeney I am the international editor of the Morning Star newspaper and the founder of Journalists for Democracy in Turkey and Kurdistan. Tomorrow, I will start a symbolic one day hunger strike in solidarity with Grup Yorum hunger striker Ibrahim Gokcek and the lawyers Ebru Timtik and Aytac Unsal. I pay tribute to Helin Bolek and Mustafa Kocak who died because of the intransigence of the Turkish state,  They died for the freedom to sing and for the right to a fair trial. Their blood is on Erdogan’s hands. But they have walked into immortality and their struggle will live on through our resistance. 50,000 political prisoners are rotting in Erdogan’s dungeons.
