Dr. Yerlikaya: The most effective way to fight against the virus is social isolation 2020-03-20 11:16:06   DÄ°YARBAKIR - TTB Central Councik member Halis Yerlikaya suggested that the most effective fight against the rapidly spreading coronavirus is social isolation, not using unnecessary medication and not going to hospitals unless necessary.   The fact that Turkey is not taking necessary measures against the virus spreading globally is causing reactions.  Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council Member Halis Yerlikaya made suggestions on measures to be taken by the public. Yerlikaya called for the most effective struggle against coronavirus to be social isolation, not using unnecessary medication and not going to hospitals unless necessary.   'DO NOT GO TO HOSPITALS UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY'   Yerlikaya, emphasizing that antibiotics do not work in virus cases and vitamins did not prove to be effective, said: " Therefore, what citizens should do is not to take medication, but to strengthen their immune systems, take care of their health, eath healthy, get enough sleep.  Therefore, strengthening the immune system is an important point. Otherwise, we cannot solve this disease with medicines. We recommend that those in the risk group comply with social isolation and stay at home."   'DO NOT USE PAIN MEDICATION'   Yerlikaya, emphasizing the importance of social isolation, said: "Those who shows the symptoms of the virus should not use pain medication. The exceeded priscriptions have been extended. Do not go to hospitals for priscriptions if you have a report. They will be valid until june."   Yerlikaya also emphasized the importance of the transparency and demanded the authorities to be transparent in this process and demanded the authorities meet the demands of the health care workers since they will be the ones fighting the virus in the front lines.
