Tuncel and Kışanak not released 2020-03-09 15:16:41 MALATYA - Gültan Kışanak and Sabahat Tuncel were not released at the hearing held today in Malatya. Kışanak celebrated March 8 while Tuncek said: "We are being tried today because we said that women are exposed to harassment, violence and massacres." The third hearing of the retrial of imprisoned Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality former Co-Chair Gültan Kışanak and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel was held at Malatya 5th High Criminal Court when the decision about them were overturned by Antep District Court of Justice.    Tuncel and Kışanak who are being charged with 'being a member of an illegal organization' and 'propagandizing an illegal organization', attended the hearing via SEGBİS (Audio and Video Information System). Their families, represantatives from HDP, DBP, HDP Women's Assembly, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activists attended the hearing.   The court board decided that witness Hicran Berna Ayverdi to be present at the next hearing, and the continuation of Kışanak's and Tuncel's detention, postponed the hearing to April 13.
