Çerkezoğlu: Millions lost their hope of finding a job 2020-03-02 11:09:57 İSTANBUL - DİSK President Arzu Çerkezoğlu stated that a production-based economic model and permanent employment policy should be implemented in order to prevent unemployment. Turkey grappling with deepening economic crisis, unemployment has reached its highest level in 2008 after the economic crisis. Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI) announced in their February report, the unemployement rate is 13,4. Revolutionary Workers Unions Confederation (DISK) chair person Arzu Çerkezoğlu evaluated DİSK's next period policies and workers' agenda to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA).   Stating that employement in Turkey is narrowing which indicates that economy has shrunk, Çerkezoğlu said that unemployment issue will continue as long as there are steps taken to prevent unemployment. Çerkezoğlu said: "Losing the hope of finding a job means actually losing their hopes for the future and life. This is the case for millions of people. Especially for young people, this despair and future worries can bring our people to the point of suicide. The government should urgently take action on this matter."
