Urfa Women's Platform: We will not let it go until Gülistan is found 2020-02-12 17:35:39 URFA - Urfa Provincial Women's Platform stated that the missing of Gülistan Doku, who has been missing for 39 days, is not taken seriously and added, “We will not let it go until Gülistan is found and the reality is brought into the daylight." Urfa Provincial Women's Platform held a press conference at the Human Rights Association (İHD) Branch building regarding the university student Gülistan Doku, who has been declared missing for 39 days. Speaking on behalf of the platform, Lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl asked,"Where is Gülistan Doku?" INDIVIDUAL ARMAMENT Özbingöl pointed out that the chaos and war environment in the region brought many social problems together with it and that femicides are one of the most obvious indicators of this. Expressing that most of the femicides has been occuring as a result of individual armament, Özbingöl said, “This armament is practiced with the type of a consciousness produced by war policies. The role of law enforcement officers in these events, the fact that investigations are not carried out effectively after the incidents, the perpetrators' relations with the law enforcement agencies raise suspicion about the investigations." WOMEN AND CHILDREN ARE ON THE TARGET Özbingöl, who said that Doku's gone missing is not taken seriously and the public is not informed properly, stated strongly that women's organizations are the followers of this case. Özbingöl said, "As women and youth, it is necessary to take a stronger stance against this special systematic policy. One of the main targets of this regime is women and children. As Urfa Provincial Women's Platform, we will continue to fight against the male-dominated system and policies. We will continue to ask the question 'where is Gulistan'?"
