İHD Report on Violence Against Women: 54 women massacred in a year in the region 2019-11-25 13:55:14 DİYARBAKIR - "The provisions of the İstanbul Convention on Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence are not complied with," the association has said. The Human Rights Association (İHD) Central Women's Committee has released a statement on the occasion of the November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.   The statement briefly said the following:   "All the practices of male-dominated politics, all the means used for the continuation of capitalism, inequality, the war economy, create the violence that is repeatedly produced.   "Violence against women is multidimensional. It continues in the forms of physical, psychological, sociological and economic violence. And unfortunately, all women are affected by this violence, albeit to different extents.   "The provisions of the İstanbul Convention on Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence are not complied with. This convention is almost ignored and anti-propaganda is being executed against the convention.   "This agreement, which was signed in 2011, is equivalent to the provisions of the Constitution of Turkey. It cannot be changed according to Article 90 of the Constitution. However, even the provisions of Law No. 6284 are not applied against violence against women.   "The state must take every precaution to prevent violence against women. It must produce policies to promote gender equality across all segments of society. It must eliminate gender-based discrimination.   "Perpetrators who used violence against women must be effectively sentenced and the policies of impunity must be abandoned."
