HDP’s Parliamentary Inquiry into Male Violence Rejected by AKP, MHP 2019-11-20 11:38:05 ANKARA - HDP has submitted a Parliamentary inquiry, requesting that male violence against women be investigated by the Parliament. The inquiry has been rejected by the ruling AKP and MHP. İYİ Party has abstained from the vote. Ahead of November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Ağrı MP and HDP Women's Assembly Spokesperson Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir submitted a Parliamentary inquiry to the Parliament.   Taşdemir requested a Parliamentary investigation into male violence against women "so that violence against women can be urgently addressed by the Parliament, preventive policies can be developed, a database of information on violence can be created and the necessary support can be offered to the women subjected to violence."   HDP's Parliamentary inquiry has been directly rejected by the votes of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and allying Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). MPs of the İYİ Party have abstained from the vote.
