Sent to prison for a photo of her from 11 years ago 2019-10-30 12:09:38 AYDIN - Halime Alparslan who was sent to prison with her 8 month old baby because she shared a photo of herself taken in the Newroz Celebrations 11 years ago in social media. She had to leave her other 2 children to her mother. Halime Alparslan (30), mother of 3, was taken into custody  recently for sharing a photo of her standing in front of a yellow, red and green flag on March 21, 2008, with the accusation of 'being a member of an illegal organization'. Alparslan was sentenced to 2 years of prison because of her 11 year old photo and was sent to İzmir Şakran Type T Women's Closed Prison with her 8 month old baby.    Mother Zehra Kızılay who demands her daughter to be released immediately, said: "My two grandchildren are growing up without their mothers and other grandchildren is growing up in jail. How can a person take this?"   Mother Kızılay emphasized that millions of people are celebrating Newroz and it is unjust that her daughter being imprisoned for a photo taken in the celebrations.     Mother Kızılay stating that her granddaughter Elif can not get the nutrient needs in prison, said: "I asked my daughter if they can get their needs in prison. She said that the food is not eatable and she can't lactate. She said they only provide the diapers and wet towels. We visited them in the holidays and brought clothes with us. The guard asked me 'If I brought clothes to the terrorist'.   I want the longing of the children for their mothers to end. 'Children are important' they say. Are these not children? I want my daughter to be released and come back to her children."
