Oktay and Akgül were behind bars on charge of “being members of a terrorist organization” due to their news in the period of curfews.   Meltem Oktay and Uğur Akgül, reporters for the Dicle News Agency (DİHA) closed by the Statutory Decree no. 675 in 2016, have been released after their lawyers lodged an objection to their arrest.   Sentenced to 2 years, 6 months in prison due to the news that he reported during the period of curfews in 2015 and 2016, Uğur Akgül was arrested on August 8, 2018 and was held in Mardin Type E Closed Prison.   After the Court of Cassation upheld the prison sentence of 2 years, 4 months given to Meltem Oktay for "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" with the news that she reported from Nusaybin, Mardin during the period of curfews, Oktay was arrested again in 2017. She has been released from Gebze Women's Closed Prison.
