Supreme Court ruled that there is no 'violation of right to life' for the case of the 13 villagers being killed 2019-09-28 11:12:11 MARDİN -  The Constitutional Court found the application of the acquittal decision of the Deputy Gendarmerie General Musa Çitil, who was held responsible for the killing of 13 villagers in Derik between 1993-94, ruled the 'violation of right to life' 'ill-founded2. Musa Çitil, the deputy general commander of the Gendarmerie who was held responsible for the killing of 13 villagers in the Derik district of Mardin between 1993 and 1994, was acquitted at the hearing on 21 May 2014. Upon the approval of the decision by the Court of Cassation on 2 June 2015, the lawyers of 13 villagers carried the case to the Constitutional Court (AYM).   The Constitutional Court that finalized their decision regarding the applications of 'violation of right to life' and 'violation of the prohibition of ill-treatment after 4 years and ruled it 'unacceptable'. The constitutional court that used the phrase 'ill-founded' for the violation of right to life, opined that the 'violation of the prohibition of ill-treatment was unacceptable due to lack of authority in terms of the individual.
