HDP calls for the parliament to assemble 2019-09-02 15:18:04 ANKARA - HDP Spokesperson Günay Kubilay, stating that they will not accept the parliament to be in recess in these extraordinary conditions, said: "As the HDP we are calling on to the ruling AKP and MHP to re-assemble the parliament at once."   People's Democratic Party (HDP) spokeseprson Günay Kubilay held a press conference at his party's headquarters. Kubilay, who called for an emergency meeting of the parliament, stated that the appointment of trustees on August 19 was a coup. Kubilay who stated that it has already been 15 days since the appointment of trustees, there still are no legal explanations as to why the elected mayors have been dismissed.     Kubilay, stating that they can not remain unresponsive to the fact that the elections, the sole basis of the Parliement is being ignored and undermined, said: "The fact that the parliament being in recess in such an extraordinary time is unacceptable. It is both a constitutional and an ethical imperative for the immediate convening of the Assembly and for the protection of its own foundation and source of legitimacy. It's the ruling parties responsibility to call the parliament to re-assemble and to ensure that the parliament works.We are calling on to the ruling parties AKP and MHP to re-assemble the parliament. The urgent issues on the agenda like the coup d'état of August 19, the failed Syria policy and what to do about it must be discussed. The AKP MHP alliance should fulfill their responsibility at once."
