Altan: crossing a country's borders 30 kilometers in is occupation 2019-08-05 12:30:59 İSTANBUL - Retired pilot Bahadır Altan who stated: "If Turkey wants to ensure their security and prevent the enterance to its borders, they must do it in their borders" about the 'security zone' Turkey wants to create, said: "Taking advantage of a country's internal conflicts and going across their borders 30 kilometers in, is occupation." The National Security Council (NSC), headed by AKP leader Tayyip Erdogan, took place on 30 July. The meeting held at the Presidential Palace lasted 6 hours and 10 minutes. A statement was made at the end, stating the topics was the security corridor to be created in North East Syria and the operations Claw 1 and Claw 2. Peace activist retired pilot Bahadır Altan evaluated the NSC meeting.   Altan stated that the corridor to be formed with jihadist groups would be an occupation for the people actually living there. Altan said: "Nusaybin and  Qamışlo, Serekaniyê are border neighbors as well as Suruç with Kobanê. What about the settlements here? Will people leave their fields, houses to you and leave?"   Altan stated that it is not possible to establish the corridor in this way, said: “If you want to ensure security and prevent entry and exit from the border you can do it at your own border. Taking advantage of the internal chaos of another country, and going across their borders 30 kilometers in, is occupation. What is an area of ??30 kilometers mean? The people living here do not accept the jihadist forces Turkey supports as friends.Declaring the people living in the area terrorists and going in their land 30 kilometers in to create a security corridor means that the war here will not end and stability can not be established. It is not possible to create a safety corridor by occupying people's lands to secure peace. This will lead to new conflicts and wars. And it sure will not serve Turkey's security as well."
