Concrete pouring started for unlicensed construction in ODTU 2019-07-08 17:53:54   ANKARA - Pouring of concrete started despite the discussions and the public awareness in ODTU.   The cutting off the trees was stopped after negotiations with Middle East Technical University (ODTU) rector Verşan Kök.   YAVAŞ: OUR EFFORTS CONTINUE     After the statement of CHP MP Gamze Taşçıer who spoke to the rector and announced that the cutting off the trees was stopped, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mansur Yavaş made a statement. Yavaş announced that he had a meeting with the recotr Verşan Kök from his twitter account and said: "We will continue a process that will correctly inform the people of Ankara and the whole public with a mutual consensus. Our efforts continue to protect public conscience."       Çankaya Mayor Alper Taşdelen reported that today's record was kept about unlicensed construction site buildings.   TMMOB: STOP CONSTRUCTION     On the other hand, the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) Ankara Provincial Coordination Board (IKK) demanded the construction of the dormitory to be stopped since it had no licence.    In a written statement from the Rectorate of METU, it was stated that the dormitory will be made within the scope of the protocol signed between METU and the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories Institution of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on May 21, 2018 and the number of poplar trees to be cut in the region where the construction will be made is approximately 750.   ÇEPNİ: CONCRETE IS BEING POURED IN THE PLACES OF THE  TREES THAT WERE CUT DOWN     People's Democratic Party (HDP) Vice President of Ecology Murat Çepni who stated that they saw the area where the trees were cut with a committee, said 99 percent of the trees were cut before the negotiations.Noting that the municipality does not have the authority to intervene in the forest, Çepni said, “It only has the authority to intervene in the construction. The delegation from the municipality made observations today and said that they will come again tomorrow. ” He confirmed that the delegation made observations at the prefabricated construction site where the workers were staying, and that the wood cutting continued during this time.     While the students keep waiting in ODTU, it was learned that CHP MO Gamze Taşçıer is on her way to ODTU, hearing about the pouring of concrete.
