
Construction machinery in METU: Trees started to be cut down

	ANKARA - The trees started to be cut down after the students that have been waiting a watch in the forest area trying to prevent the KYK dormitory from being built for 55 days have been forcefully removed by the police.&nbsp;

	Middle East Technical University (ODTU) students have been resisting against the Credit and Dormitories Institution which some part of the ODTU forest was allocated to for 49 years have been blockaded by the police since early this morning.

	Students who want to support their friends behind the polcie blockade was blockaded by the police as well. &nbsp;A student called U.H was injured with a blow to his head by the police. Police pepper sprayed the crowd including Murat Çepni from HDP.&nbsp;

	The tents of the students resisting not to leave the grounds was destroyed by the police. The students who were forcefully removed by the police, was battered by the police as well. The student who was injured was brought to the City Hospitals by his friends.

	HDP Ecology Co-Vice President Murat Çepni continues to wait witht he students. Çepni said: "We are outside the police barricade. There are students and lecturers here. We're dealing with the vice-chancellor. We want the barricade removed and the police pulled out. The cops just attacked the students trying to get inside the blocade. It is very intense around here. A full occupation attempt is taking place in cooperation with the Rectorate. He has invaded the university. They say the construction will begin immediately ”.

	Chamber of Architects Ankara Branch President Tezcan Karakuş Candan made a twitter share making a call and inviting everyone for support.
