100 prisoners files criminal complaint in Tarsus Prison 2019-06-28 11:44:15 MERSİN - Attorney İbrahim Kaya from İHD Mersin Branch Prison Monitoring Committee who stated that some guuardians are applying pressure on the prisoners who were on hunger strike in Tarsus No 1 Type T Closed Prison, said 100 prisoners have filed a criminal complaint about the torture.   Attorney İbrahim Kaya from Humans' Rights Association (İHD) Mersin Branch Prison Monitoring Committee said that the prisoners have told him that the guardians have been torturing and insulting the prisoners on his visit to the prison on June 21. Kaya who stated that the pressure increased after the hunger strikes were called off on May 26, said that the prisoners told him :"The reason for the torture is our success in breaking the isolation. The guardians who can't tolerate this started torturing us."     Kaya who stated that the wards were raided on June 20 and the prisoners told him : "A guardian told us that he is the man in here, that he is the state and he can do anything he wants.Then 30-40 guardians raided our ward and tortured us.Dragged us to a place where there are no cameras to torture and the head guard watched what happened."     Kaya who stated that the attacks are systematic and programmed, said approximately 100 prisoners including his clients filed a criminal complaint about the incident to the Ministry of Justice and Mersin Chief Prosecutor's Office. Lastly, Kaya stated that every person who committed this crime and who is a partner in this crime will be brought before the judiciary and that he will take necessary steps for them to be prosecuted.
