İncin: Most of the prisoners in aegean region still haven't been referred to the hospitals 2019-06-04 09:56:06   IZMIR - IHD Izmir Branch President Zafer Incin who visited the  prisons with the decision of the prisoners to call of the hunger strikes in the Aegean region, said he  observed that regular hospital referrals of the prisoners were not made.   Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari deputy Leyla Guven who launched the hunger strike action with the participation of nearly three thousand detainees and prisons spread out of the country demanding the removal of the isolation imposed on the leader of the PKK was called off on May 26 with the call of Abdullah Öcalan. Human Rights Association (İHD) Izmir Branch President Zafer İncin who pointed out the rights violations experienced by the prisoners who have been on hunger strike in prison for months, told about his observations of the prisons he visited in the Aegean Region.   İncin said that, after the hunger strike ended, the prison administration and the Ministry of Justice had not properly put in place the necessary work and therefore no healthy interventions were made. İncin said, "In all the prisons we have visited since the first day of the onset of hunger strikes; We have warned the authorities and the prison doctors about the intervention that should be made to the prisoners who have been carrying out the strike for months. However, in spite of our many interviews, we have determined that there are no referrals made to hospitals in many prisons, but the infirmary doctors or health officers are drawing blood from the prisoners and give them IV drip without the tests being concluded. So, we can easily say that a regular examination has not been carried out.    İncin who drew attention to the prisoners in Eagean Region, said: "Among all the prisons we have visited, Kırıklar Prison is a little more discreet and shows a healthy approach. From the first day, the prisoners are referred to the hospitals and some of them are still under treatment. Some of them were sent to prison after treatment. However, in many prisons in the Eagean Region, most of the prisoners still haven't recieved even an IV drip. Their blood tests were done, but they haven't recieve the results. Their referrals to hospitals haven't been done yet." no more serum was given in many prisons in the Aegean. Blood tests are all done. Hospital referrals were not carried out on a regular basis   İncin who stateed that the prison administrations justify the fact that the referrals of the prisoners aren't done yet because they are high in numbers or they justify it with the security concerns, said: "It is not possible to explain this with a security concern or any other different approach. By deferring this, they are actually taking an approach that puts the health of prisoners at risk. In order to comply with the Malta Declaration, we call again to doctors working within the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health. After the hunger strike, we continue to recieve complaints prisoners are vomitting blood, that they are not recieving proper medical treatement and they are being sent back to prison without recieving their blood test results, that they are not being fed properly."    .
