ÖHD: Torture in Urfa is a collective punishment against Kurds 2019-05-21 15:35:20   DİYARBAKIR - Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD), emphasized that the torture being done on those who were taken under custody in Halfeti is 'collective punishment against Kurds'.     The statement where In Urfa TEM Branch, all rules of the law were suspended and completely unlawful and arbitrary practices continued to be experienced is expressed, It was stated that the torture of dozens of people on an allegation is collective punishment against the Kurdish people.      CALL FOR CPT    A call was made to Turkey Anti-Torture Committee (CPT) that visited Turkey last week.   The call made to CPT is as follows:        "We call on the Ministry of Justice and the judicial authorities to make their duties, not to be blind to the bullying, and to implement the laws for our colleagues to meet with their clients as soon as possible.     We call on to the CPT officials  to react to the cases of torture in Turkey. We urge the application of sanctions. To the torturers; We remind you that torture is banned by domestic and international regulations. It should not be forgotten that, one day, if not today, the torturers will hold to account before the law! We will follow up with the bar associations and human rights organizations until the end of the process, as well as informing the public that we will take any legal action to bring torturers to justice.
