Sentenced to 18 years of jail time for attending the Roboski Protests and on hunger strike for 137 days 2019-05-07 13:16:30 MANİSA - Ramazan Atabey who got arrested for attending Roboski protests and was sentenced to 18 years, is on hunger strike for 137 days. His mother Emine Atabey stated that the prisoners should not die blatantly. One of the thousands of the prisoners who are on hunger strike demanding PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan to be able to visited by his attorneys and his family is 27 year old Ramazan Atabey. Atabey joined the hunger strike action on December 26, 2018 and he is on hunger strike for 137 days.     Atabey is in prison for 8 years now. His crime is to attend the protests of Roboski where F-16's bombed a village killing 34 citizens 17 of which were children.    Emine Atabey who stated that she wakes up at 06.00 to see his son on the visitation day, said going to the visits takes a whole day. Atabey said: "The road is tiring that's for sure, but what wears me down is what I see in there. The guards keep insulting us and we have to stay unresponsive just to see our children for a few minutes.The things our children and we go through is inhumane."     LOST 20 KİLOS   Mother Atabey stated that her son have lost 20 kilos since he started the hunger strike. Mother Atabey who stated that for that reason she can not stop thinking about her son and his friends, said she respects her son's decision anyway.   Mother Atabey who stated that steps must be taken as soon as possible for the hunger strikes, said: "We don't want them to die blatantly. It is a great pain to see someone die from hunger. I don't want anyone to experience this."
