Children of the same neighborhood on hunger strike against isolation 2019-05-02 12:14:50 ŞIRNAK - Zekeriye Aşkın and Kerem Ayas, friends from the same neighborhood who were arrested with the accusation of 'being a member to an illegal organization' while they were children, are on hunger strike since March 1. Two friends from the same neighborhood who got arrested during the curfews in Şırnak Silopi in 2015-2016 are on a hunger strike demanding the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   Both Kerem Ayas and Zekeriye Aşkın who got arrested when they was 16, was sentenced to 6 years 8 months of prison. They both joined the hunger strike action on March 1.     Mothers of both children, Leyla Ayas and Nergiz Aşkın came together demanding the demands of their children to be met.     MOTHER AYAS: HE HID HIS SHAKING HANDS     Mother Ayas who visited her son 2 weeks ago, stated that her son lost a lot of weight and his hand shook, said: "He hid his hands under the table to prevent me from seeing that they are shaking. I didn't say anything back there but they looked exhausted.   Ayas who stated that his son had a message in which he said 'We will resist as long as we live. You should not sit at home either. Mother Ayas who stated that was unable to cook for 2 months, said she always thought of her son. Mother Ayas said, 'Why are people so silent? We should not close ourselves in our homes remaining unresponsive. We should get out to the streets."     'I TRIED TO WARM HIS COLD HANDS WITH MINE'   Nergiz Aşkın (39) mother of Zekeriye Aşkın who has 6 children 3 of which are hearing impaired, stated they have been losing weight and said: "His hands were ice vold. I tried to warm his hands inside mine. All the prisoners looked exhausted. How can we bear this?"     Mother Aşkın who stated that the needs of the hunger strikers are not being met, said: "My son told me that their cells were being raided every morning.When I laid my head at night I can't sleep thinking how they could sleep when they are hungry. I haven't had a bite without crying ever since the hunger strikes began. People should rise up. Enough is enough."
