Hunger striker Aktaş who lacks both of his hands being kept in solitary confinement 2019-04-04 11:48:11 İZMİR- The cell mate of sick prisoner Ergin Aktaş who lacks both his hands and on hunger strike since March 2, was moved to another cell by the prison administration.Aktaş can not maintain his basic needs and is not able to cut the lemon the prison administration gives, which is vital for a hunger striker, in half; and therefore can not consume it. Attorneys who stated that Aktaş has lost 6 kilos since March 2, said his blood pressure is around 8/5.  Attorneys stating that because he is detoriorating he doesn't accept his routine health checks,said: " Ehmedê Xemî and Ergin Aktaş have been suffering from fever, delirium, lack of apatite, coughing blooc, chest pains, chest burns, low blood pressure. Aktaş is given one Complex vitamin B a day. Ehmedê Xemî who used to stay in the same cell with Aktaş was moved to another cell by force on March 26. With this reason, Aktaş who lacks both hands was not able to cut the lemons in half and therefore wasn't able to consume any. He is having problems with sugar, salt, fruit juice and liquid intake. "   Attorneys stating that the prisoners are demanding to be moved to another prison, said: "The persons deprived of their liberty have the right to be treated with respect  and with humane treatment and the human dignity they have been born with. Those who violate these rights must be efficiently investigated and punsihed otherwise  the crimes committed by public officials will be covered up without being efficiently punished.
