Sırrı Süreyya Önder: We have to keep Leyla Güven Alive

	İSTANBUL- HDP Former Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder who stated that the isolation in İmralı is not limited with İmralı, it is the destruction of hope for peace and democracy and for a common future, said: " We have to keep these people who challange their lives and their personal future for this cause."

	 

	 

	People's Democratic Party (HDP) Ankara former Deputy and İmralı Committee Spokesperson Sırrı Süreyya Önder is imprisoned in Kocaeli Kandıra No 1 Type F Closed Prison after the decision about his sentence of 3 years and 6 months is finalized on December 6. Önder who has been staying in his cell alone from the day he got in the prison, answered the questions of Mezopotamya Agency (MA).

	 

	Is it hard for you to stay alone? Isn't that hard?

	 

	It is not hard to stay alone. 'Loneliness is a teacher'. Moreover, we have the opportunity to converse with a group including our deputy Ferhat Encu, and we do sports and activities. And I am now able to work on my book now that I am alone. I have no problem staying alone.

	 

	The sentence İstanbul 26th Criminal Court gave you was discussed a lot. How do you assess this sentence?

	 

	It is pretty normal that the sentence İstanbul 26th Criminal Court gave to be discussed. If we simplify the abundance of words, it means that I was sentenced for the speech I made in the peace and solution process Newroz. It should't have been a matter od investigation let alone sentence. It is a consequence of war and conflict paradigm in this country.

	 

	 

	DTK CO-chair have started a hunger strike for the termination of isolation in İmralı. What is your comment on this?

	 

	 

	The isolation in İmralı is not limited with İmralı, it is the destruction of hope for peace and democracy and for a common future. It is to leave a legacy that is hard to find a solution for, for the future. We have to comprehend fully the will of Leyla Güven and our other friends are showing. We have to keep these people who challange their lives and their personal future for this cause.
