8 March message from female candidates: We must raise our struggle with Leyla's determination 2019-03-06 11:40:12   MARDİN- HDP Female Co-mayor Candidates who kicked off the March 8 events in front of the prison, pointing out the hunger strike action of Leyla Güven who is on a hunger strike for 119 days today, made a call and said: "We must raise our struggle with Leyla's determination."   The start of the 8 March World Women's Day events began in front of Mardin Type E Prison where many prisoners are on a hunger strike with the demand of terminating the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. HDP Female Co-Mayor Candidates who spoke about the March 8 events, emphasized that they will be the voice of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven.   ÖZAYDIN: WOMEN MUST FILL THE STREETS   HDP Mazıdağı Co-Mayor Candidate Nalan Özaydın who drew attention to the fact that Güven have started a resistance with her action, said: "Women lead the resistance that started in the prisons and continues in all areas. Women struggle in the streets, in all walks of life."   BALCI: WE WILL RAISE THIS STRUGGLE   HDP Midyat Co-Mayor Candidate Havva Balcı who emphasized the importance of March 8 for women, emphasized that this day have to be a day where women raise their voices against the masculine system. Balcı who said they will be out in the streets that day, stated that they will raise their struggle.   'THE ISOLATION ON WOMEN WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE ISOLATION ON ÖCALAN BREAKS'   Artuklu Co-Mayor Candidate Fatma Yılmaz said: "The isolation on women grows as long as the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan continues. And it will not end unless we break the isolation on Mr. Öcalan.   'LEYLA SHOWED THE WAY TO RESISTANCE'   Savur Co-Mayor Candidate Gülistan Öncü said: "Leyla have laid her body to hunger in the face of this aggravated isolation. We must all be in the streets to break this isolation. Güven showed the women that they must resist at all times and showed the way to resistance."
