'Hasankeyf' keeps struggling not to be forgotten' 2019-03-02 12:59:14 BATMAN- Assessing the ECHR's decision on Hasankeyf, civil society and professional organizations pointed out that the struggle was not yet over and said: "We are struggling for Hasankeyf's salvation."   Reacts to the rejection of the application to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for the protection of cultural heritage in Hasankeyf, which has a 12-thousand-year history to be left under the Ilısu dam water. Representatives of non-governmental organizations emphasized that the struggle for the preservation of the cultural heritage in Hasankeyf should be continued.     Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Diyarbakir Branch member Duygu Bayram,drew attention to the fact that the struggle for  Hasankeyf is not over yet.Bayram said: "This struggle is going on for years in Hasankeyf. It might have slowed down a little bit in the last few years but it continues. We must make people remember that Hasankeyf still stands and not forgotten by doing activities like bike tours and press statements like we did before. Hasankeyf experienced a great destruction but we must remind people of the fact that the struggle is not over yet."     Architects Chamber Diyarbakir Branch manager Sevdet Acar said: "How ever the dam is not holding water yet, we must keep organizing trekkings, press statements, bike tours here. We will not give up the struggle even if this place submerges in order not to make Hasankeyf be forgotten."
