Evaluating the reason for the rejection of the candidates, Batman deputy Mehmet Rüşti Tiryaki said: "These decisions of the election board of is political because the investigation processes themselves are political."   Tiryaki said: "For example, in the case of Sabri Özdemir, the candidate of the HDP Batman Municipal Co-Presidency is the  of insulting the president and insulting some institutions of the state are  charges with sentences of  11 months and 6 months of imprisonment. These are the speeches that should be evaluated within the scope of the freedom of thought, expression and criticism. The critisicm towards the government must be comprehended how harsh they might be. The people who represent the political power use very heavy expressions against the dissidents, especially our party leaders, our co-chairs, our deputies and our mayors. None of them were sued. Against all these, the statements made by our politicians, party representatives, candidates about  the resolution of the Kurdish problem in the past were brought to the courts. Beyond that, they are not being prosecuted for offensive crimes or other offenses, so these decisions are political."
