European Council applied to be a party to the case of Kavala in ECHR 2019-01-10 14:35:42   European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) have demanded defense from Ankara regarding the case of detained business person Osman Kavala who has been detained over a year and still has no indictment.The court had specifically requested information on the legality of the period of temporary detention and the process before the Constitutional Court.   According to the DW, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic has officially applied to be a party  in the case of Osman Kavala in ECHR.   Mijatovic have announced  via her social media account that they will apply to be a party to the case ,in the favor of Kavala.   Boğaziçi University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Betül Tanbay, Dean of Bilgi University Faculty of Law Turgut Tarhanlı, Vice Chairman of Anadolu Kültür Yiğit Ekmekçi, Board Member Ali Hakan Altınay, Anadolu Kültür General Coordinator Asena Günal, consultants Çiğdem Mater and Meltem Aslan, Bora Sarı, Ayşegül Güzel and Filiz Telek was taken under custody in scope of the investigation Kavala is arrested for.   Court decided  for Istanbul Bilgi University Employees of the NGO Training and Research Unit, Dialogue and Specialization Association Founding Member, Helsinki Citizens' Assembly member Yiğit Aksakoğlu to be arrested. The other 12 detainees were released.
