Çavuşoğlu gave the signal of not abiding to the ECHR verdict 2018-11-23 13:11:01   NEWS DESK- Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu gave the signal of not abiding to the ECHR verdict saying that ECHR have gone political.   Minister of Foreisg Affairs Çavuşoğlu, have answered the questions addressed to him about the agenda in a CNN Türk program.    One of the questions adressed to Çavuşuğlu was about the European Human's Rights Association (ECHR) verdict about former Co-chair og People's Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş.   Çavuşoğlu responded to the question as: " I have spent 12 years in European Council (EC). Even back then our priority was to make reforms in EC. Turkey have contributed a lot in that process. That's a good thing. There are political associations inside EC. But ECHR is not the place to do politics.  This association have gone political. ECHR have proved that they have made a political decision. This verdict is not judicial, it is political."   Çavuşoğlu stated that they have the right to object the verdict, said: "Who says our membership probability will face termination if we don't abide the verdict? Our Ministry of Justice and Judiciary will make their decision. But there have been countries that did not abide ECHR verdicts and their memberships were not terminated."
