I am starting a hunger strike to protest the segregation 2018-11-07 15:14:50   DİYARBAKIR- DTK Co-chair and HDP Parliamentarian Leyla Güven announced that she is starting a hunger strike to protest the segregation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. Güven also stated that she will no longer be making a defence in the courtroom.   Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Part (HDP) Parliamentarian Leyla Güven who did not accept the imposition of handcuffes was not borught to the courtroom and attended to the hearing via videoconference (SEGBİS) that was seen in Diyarbakır 9th Criminal Court.   Güven who stated that she is a parliamentarian and she wont except the imposition of handcuffes, said she will be starting ahunger strike to protest the segregation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   Güven commented on her decision: " I have been active on politics with the inspiration Mr. Öcalan have given by saying women should participate in politics. Today, the segregation against Öcalan is actually applies to all of the community. Segregation is a crime agains humanity. Being a part of this community, I am starting a hunger strike to protest the segregation of Mr. Öcalan. I will no longer make any defences in this court. I will keep on protesting until the judiciary stops its unlawfull decisions and the segregation is over. I will convert my hunger strike to a death fast if need be."   Leyla Güven is arrested for her reaction against the Efrin Operation, for her statements and for her work in DTK since January 31.
