Sick prisoner’s right to get treated are being denied by branding their hospital files 2018-09-28 13:18:24   ANKARA- Sick prisoners are being subjected to nationalist doctors’ maltreatment by branding their files as “flight risk” or by writing down the organisation they are being treid to their files. Member of Ankara chamber of medical doctors Dr. Onur Karahancı evoked the branding treatment as a violation to human rights.   According to Human Rights Assosiation (İHD) there are 154 thousand sick prisoners and 402 of them are in critical condition. And 3500 of the sick prisoners have died in last seventeen years. Health policies and isolation in Turkiye’ prisoners are stimulating the sickness in prisons.   Top of it, writing down “flight risk” or the name of the organisation the sick prisoner is being treid, exposing the prisoner to maltreatment of nationalist doctors.   In the sick prisoners report of İHD Ankara Office, a sick prisoner (M.Y) whois being kept at Kayseri Bünyan Prison says, “ I was examined at Kayseri Bünyan State Hospital. The doctor i’ve seen said, ‘I can fix your rib cage with an operation but i wont. I am a nationalisy, and if a operate on you , i might get overwhelmed with my national feelings and let you die on my table.’ I could not get treated.”   This is a violation to World Medical Assosiation’s Prison Provision Charter, Patient Rights Charter and Tokyo charter. And Council of Europe warns the doctors to be impartial with the advisory jurisdiction of execution of punishment.   Ankara chamber of medical doctors Dr. Onur Karahancı said, “ We call this “branding”. Any implementation to come between the doctor and the patient, any implementation to break the trust is branding. The doctor should cry foul at this.   Karahancı complained, “ This kind of “notices” are being wrote down at the doors of some patients hospital rooms and hospital corridors are public domain.  Karahancı added that they have been recieving a lot of complaints about the matter and that they are going to conduct an investigation amongst those doctorswho are proven guilty.
