Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar says they will expose special war policies 2024-11-18 15:31:10   ÇEWLÎG - DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said that women are the most affected by the special war policies and emphasized that Kurdish women have never given up against this and said: “We will expose the special war policies.”    Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Women's Assembly announced the final report of the “Women's Meetings Against the Special War” workshops at the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Çewlîg (Bingöl) Provincial Organization building. Speaking here, DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said that they have been working and exchanging ideas with women for a long time and that they want to build a path for women's freedom. Drawing attention to the long-standing special war policies in Kurdistan, “Our mountains were bombed, our trees were cut down and our rivers were polluted. Nature was also our memory. The aim of the special war is to leave the Kurdish people without memory and without ownership. Hunger and poverty are high in Kurdistan. The main reason for this is that the state has adopted a policy of war instead of peace.”   SPECIAL WAR POLICIES    Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar stated that instead of dealing with the problems of the people and women, the state is escalating the war and pointed out that women are the most affected by this war. Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar stated that the special war policies are dragging women especially in Kurdistan into prostitution and added that the soldiers and policemen who come to Kurdistan come not only for their duties but also for the purpose of “seducing” young women under the name of “love”. Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar added that young people are being used to drugs and said: “We will expose the special war policies.”    'KURD WOMEN ARE NOT DEFEATED'   Emphasizing that women should speak out on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said: “If you look at the state, it will say, 'There is no discrimination'. Yes, there is. The state never wants women's freedom. It knows that if women wake up, many things will change. Women should decide. Whatever women decide, men confiscate it, saying 'We have decided'. They know that if women wake up, that country will be enlightened. What did the state do? It came out of the Istanbul Convention everywhere. The Istanbul Convention defended women. As you know, women are always slaughtered in Turkey. And this is something that works in favor of AKP and MHP. Who is being punished? It is women. They canceled the Istanbul Convention because women will demand their rights. In fact, alimony is our right. The state has never wanted women to receive alimony. It says 'Woman is the servant of man'. The alliance formed in Kurdistan, with Hizbul-contra, is again turning against women in some way. Everyone kills women in their own way, some say this, some say that. But Kurdish women have always been able to stand on their own feet. We were exiled from our own village, our language and our house were taken away. But despite this, Kurdish women have not given up.”   'IF MR. ÖCALAN BE FREED PROBLEMS BE SOLVED'   Drawing attention to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar continued as follows: “There is isolation in İmralı. Everywhere we say, 'Mr. Öcalan must be freed, problems must be solved'. They say 'no'. They know very well that those who want women's freedom the most will claim Kurdistan. We women have always raised our voices. Together we will say 'no' to the oppression of the state in unity.”
