Karagöz was welcomed with enthusiasm in his hometown, Amed. Karagöz, who came to Amed from Izmir, his family, Democratic Regions Party (DBP), People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), provincial and district administrators, Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations of Med Detainees and Convict Families (MED TUHAD-FED). Co-chair Emine Kaya and members of the Association for Assistance with Detainee Families (TUAY-DER) welcomed him with applause and shouts at Diyarbakır Airport.   'FREE DAYS ARE NEAR'   After greeting those who came to meet him, Karagöz made a short statement and said: “Even though I was released from prison, my friends stayed inside. That's why a part of me stayed there. I am experiencing bittersweet joy. The days of being free together are near. When they are free, we will all be free.”   After the speech, Karagöz set out for Bismil with his family.   WHAT HAPPENED?   Karagöz, who was detained in Bismil district of Amed in 1994, was arrested by the State Security Court (DGM) after 21 days of detention and sent to prison. Karagöz, who was sentenced to life imprisonment on the charge of "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state", was held captive in Erzirom, Dîlok, Burdur, Amed and Izmir prisons for 30 years.
