Hunger strike action in prisons is on its 51st day 2024-01-16 10:22:22   NEWS CENTER - The hunger strike in prisons demanding "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a solution to the Kurdish issue" has entered its 51st day.    The hunger strike launched in prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan to demand the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has reached its 51st day. Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison for 25 years, and other prisoners in the prison, Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, have not been allowed to meet with their families and lawyers for 34 months.   To end the absolute isolation in Imrali and ensure the physical freedom of Öcalan, the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign was launched internationally with simultaneous statements made in 74 centers around the world on October 10, 2023. As part of the campaign, which is in its fourth month, political prisoners in prisons also started a hunger strike on November 27.
