'Freedom' watch on the first day of the year 2024-01-01 19:28:19   NEWS CENTER - Relatives of prisoners in Amed, Wan, Adana, Mersin and Istanbul held a Justice Watch on the first day of the year, demanding "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan."   Justice Watch actions, initiated in many cities with the demands of ensuring the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the solution of the Kurdish issue continue. There has not been no news for 34 months from Abdullah Öcalan who is in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison.   AMED   The action initiated in Amed under the leadership of the Association for Assistance with Prisoners' Families (TUAY-DER) continues in the Rêzan (Bağlar) district of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party). Many relatives of the prisoners attended the Justice Watch. Relatives of prisoners wore aprons with the words "Isolation is a crime against humanity."   Speaking at the protest, Dilek Baykan, one of the relatives of the prisoners, stated that they want justice and freedom for all prisoners. Baykan said: “We want justice and law to be ensured in the new year. My child has been in isolation since his arrest. Of course, this isolation should be abolished. I want freedom for all prisoners.” Baykan called all relatives of prisoners to join the Justice Watch action.   Another prisoner relative, Aklime Hanas, congratulated her prisoner relatives on the new year. Reminding that they started the Justice Watch on December 4, Hanas said: “I call out to all mothers and Kurds. Let's make 2024 the year of peace, freedom and unity."   The protest of the relatives of the prisoners continued with Kurdish folk songs and the slogan "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (long live the resistance of the dungeons)"   ADANA   The Justice Watch action, initiated under the leadership of Akdeniz Adana Assistance and Solidarity Association with Families of Detainees and Convicts (AATUHAY-DER), continued on the first day of the new year. Many people participated in the protest, which continued the 29th day. Activists demanded that the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan be abolished and his physical freedom be ensured.   MERSIN    The action of Çukurova Association for Assistance with Families of Detainees and Convicts (Çukurova TUAY-DER) is on its 29th day. During the action, slogans such as "Bijî berxwedana zindana", "Bê Serok jiyan nabe" and "Jin, jiyan, azadî" were frequently chanted. Similar demands were also expressed in the demonstration here.   ISTANBUL   The action launched at the DEM Party building in Esenler district, under the leadership of the Marmara Association for Assistance with Detainees' Families (MATUHAYDER), continued its 20th day. Participants in the protest wore aprons with the words "Isolation is a crime against humanity" written in Kurdish and Turkish. DEM Party Bağcılar District Organization executives and many people visited the activists.   MATUHAYDER Cochair Dilek Demir emphasized that their protests will continue until the demands are accepted. Demir said: "Our purpose, target, ideology and demands are clear."   İlhan Demirsapı, one of the managers of DEM Party Esenler District Organization, said: "We have been in a struggle for many years. We have never seen anyone in the world as resilient as Kurdish mothers. We will succeed in our struggle."   WAN   The protest at the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Provincial Organization building under the leadership of Wan TUHAY-DER continued its 28th day. Many people from the DEM Party visited the activists. Eyne Atabay, one of the relatives of the prisoners, wished that the new year would bring peace and community. Atabay said: “Everyone knows that the person who will bring peace is Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. We will continue our struggle and protest here until this isolation, which has spread to all prisons starting from Imrali, is abolished."   The action continued with the slogans "Bijî berxwedana zindanan" and "Bê Serok jiyan nabe".
