Demand of families who lost their children: Freedom and peace 2023-12-26 13:02:44   MÛŞ - Drawing attention to their only demand is peace and freedom,Sadullah Demir and Müslüme Boz, who lost their children in the Kurdish freedom struggle, said: "This will be possible by ending the Imrali isolation."   The situation of not hearing from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners in the prison, Hamili Yıldırım, Veysi Aktaş and Ömer Hayri Konar, who are held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison, has entered its 34th month. Applications for family and lawyer meetings are blocked, citing "disciplinary penalties". While the deepening of the Imrali isolation brings with it new war and military policies, the increasing deaths every day increase the burden on the people. The campaign, which was launched internationally on October 10 with the motto "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" against the policy that affects all areas of life, from economy to politics, continues with actions and events in prisons as well as in Kurdistan, the Middle East, Turkey and Europe.   Sadullah Demir, the father of Evrim Demir, who set his body on fire on the anniversary of the July 14 Great Death Fast in 2011, and Müslüme Boz, the mother of YJA-STAR member Büşra Yekta Boz (Mawa Roj), who lost her life in Turkey's chemical weapons attack, evaluated the campaign.   'THE SOCIAL STRUGGLE MUST BE FOUGHT'   Stating that a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue will not be possible unless the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is ended, Demir said: “The Kurdish issue has been going on for many years. Many actions were taken for a solution. One of these actions is the most recent hunger strike started by the prisoners. It is necessary to understand the main purpose of the prisoners well. Prisoners are fighting against injustice and lawlessness. These unfair and unlawful practices must end. It is the natural right of the person who has been wronged to fight. There has been no news from Öcalan for 33 months. Türkiye is violating its own laws. The people need to oppose the isolation and support the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue. Kurds now need to fight for social benefit instead of individual interest."   'WE HAVE TO BE UNITY'   Stating that the prisoners starved their bodies against the isolation policy against Abdullah Öcalan, Müslüme Boz said: “Those outside also need to support the action. The demand is very clear; This is the end of the isolation imposed on Mr. Öcalan. Everyone must voice this call. As peace mothers, we now want peace and freedom. We do not want our children to die on hunger strikes."   'THE KEY TO THE SOLUTION IS IN IMRALI'   Emphasizing that the isolation has spread to the entire society, Boz said: "The peace will come to the country when the absolute isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan is lifted. If the isolation policy against Öcalan is lifted, democracy will come to the country. This isolation is not applied only to Öcalan and the prisoners. It has spread to all areas of society and we want it to end. The key to solving the issues lies in İmralı. Öcalan is a world famous philosopher today. Türkiye has been denying the Kurdish people and language for years. Öcalan is fighting a great war for the Kurds to live freely with their identities. The state has implemented a policy of denial against the Kurds in every field. If the isolation is lifted, there will be freedom and peace, and the doors of prisons will be opened."
