Prisoners on hunger strike: 'We are on hunger strike against unlawfulness'

	MERSİN - Prisoner Hacire Çay, who is on a hunger strike in Tarsus Women's Closed Prison demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan", said: "The ongoing isolation in İmralı is unlawful and against national and international laws. We started a hunger strike due to this unlawfulness."

	Political prisoners in prisons also participated in the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, which was launched on October 10 in many parts of the world, with an indefinite alternating hunger strike as of November 27. As the hunger strike in 106 prisons entered its 15th day, Hacire Çay, who is detained in Tarsus Women's Closed Prison, sent a message about her actions through her family.

	Çay, who is also on hunger strike, stated the following in his message: “There has been no news from the leadership for nearly three years. The isolation in İmralı is an inhumane isolation. It is illegal and against national and international laws. We are on hunger strike against unlawfulness. We call on all national and international institutions; The aggravated isolation in İmralı and the obstacles to the physical freedom of the leadership must be removed. If the Imrali isolation continues to be ignored, the degree of our action will be increased: therefore, all forces pro-freedom, peace and democracy must rebel against these unlawful people and support our rightful action.”
