Prisoner on hunger strike: Our action will continue until steps are taken 2023-11-27 15:11:20   ISTANBUL - Yakup Akman, one of the prisoners who went on hunger strike for Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom, said that they will continue their actions until concrete steps are taken.   Akman called the fire brigade and various similar institutions after the fire in the Aydos Forest in Pendik on September 19, 2019, but was still tried on charges of "burning forests within the framework of organizational activities" and "disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state" and sentenced to 25 years and aggravated life imprisonment. Yakup Akman, who was sentenced to prison, went on a rotating hunger strike in Marmara (Silivri) Prison, which started today within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign.   'UNTIL CONCRETE STEPS ARE TAKEN, WE WILL CONTINUE THIS ACTION'   Akman gave a message about the hunger strikes in his phone call with his family. Stating that the lack of news from Abdullah Öcalan and the isolation worry them, Akman's message is as follows: "I greet our valuable and patriotic people on behalf of the political prisoners. An unprecedented isolation is being imposed on our esteemed patriotic people, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, and no news is being received. This situation increases our concerns, as it does for all our people. Getting used to isolation is cruel. We will neither get used to nor accept this situation. We want to announce to all our people the hunger strike that we, as political prisoners, have gone on both for the end of the isolation, for the physical freedom of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, and for the solution of the Kurdish issue on a democratic basis. We will continue this action until concrete steps are taken. We also invite our people, as political prisoners, to resistance. 'Bijî berxwêdanan to the dungeon(Long live the resistance of prisoners)."
