Çiftyürek: Abdullah Öcalan should be free 2023-09-20 11:00:55 AMED - Stating that the absolute isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan caused social crises, Green Left Party Wan MP Sinan Çiftyürek said: "Öcalan must be free."   There has been no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and his companions Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, who are held in İmralı F Type High Security Closed Prison, for 30 months. Applications for family and lawyer visits are left unanswered. Evaluating the lack of news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan for 30 months and the isolation imposed on him, Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Wan MP Sinan Çiftyürek stated that this unlawfulness must be ended.   'ISOLATION WITHIN ISOLATION IS ILLEGAL'   Stating that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has millions of followers in four parts of Kurdistan, Çiftyürek said: "The isolation imposed on Öcalan should be lifted, the way should be opened and he should speak. Öcalan is being isolated within isolation. This is illegal."   'THERE IS POLITICAL, HUMANITARIAN AND LEGAL ISOLATION'   Stating that there were three types of isolation imposed on Öcalan and that one of them was "humane" isolation, Çiftyürek said: "Every prisoner has the right to meet with his family and lawyers. The isolation should be lifted over Abdullah Öcalan, who was deprived of this human right. There is a second 'political' isolation on Abdullah Öcalan. Öcalan should express his opinions and suggestions regarding the elections. Sometimes the state speaks on Öcalan's behalf, we tell the state not to speak on his behalf. We want to pave the way for Öcalan to speak. This continues as political isolation."   'ÖCALAN MUST BE FREE'   Thirdly, drawing attention that there is an "unlawful" isolation on Abdullah Öcalan, Çiftyürek said: "The law allows every prisoner to meet with his family and lawyers and to send his message. The state continues this isolation, ignoring its own law. This leads to social crises. This state of crisis over Öcalan leads to a social crisis. We always say that the path to democratization of Ankara passes through Amed(Diyarbakır). For this, Abdullah Öcalan must be free."   'ISOLATION MUST BE REMOVED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM'   Stating that they have always expressed that the state should solve the Kurdish issue through peaceful means, and added that Abdullah Öcalan should be free for a solution without war, Çiftyürek said: "The state should free Abdullah Öcalan and communicate with him for this purpose. This way, a solution will be achieved. AKP must comply with the law. It must lift the isolation through Öcalan."   Stating that the Freedom and Democracy Alliance's decisions included the phrase "All detainees should be released, isolation should be lifted", Çiftyürek said: "This could not be done with slogans. A target should be set in front of them. The party leaders and the Kurdistani Alliance should focus on this and that the European Union (EU) should contact its Kurdish friends and explain that the isolation is inhumane, unscrupulous and illegal. Whatever needs to be done should be done for this."   MA / Müjdat Can - Bazid Evren
