
Rosa Women's Association founder Gezgör gets prison sentence

	AMED – Narin Gezgör, founding member of the Rosa Women's Association, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison in the hearing of the case in which she was retrial.

	Narin Gezgör, the founding member of the association, who was detained and arrested on June 8, 2020, within the scope of the Rosa Women's Association investigation and later released pending trial, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months on November 11, 2020, in the case where she was tried on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization". The decision, which was taken to the Court of Appeal, was overturned on the grounds of "incomplete examination". The hearing of Gezgör, for whom a retrial was decided, was held at the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court. At the hearing, which Gezgör did not attend, her lawyers Elif Tirenç İpek Ulaş and Semra Balyan were present in the courtroom.

	PROSECUTOR REQUESTED ARREST

	&nbsp;

	Presenting his opinion, the prosecutor requested that Gezgör be punished by considering the press statements she attended, her membership of the Rosa Women's Association, the interviews she gave to media outlets and her secret witness statement as evidence of the crime of "being a member of an organisation". The prosecutor also requested an arrest warrant for Gezgör.

	COURT GOT SENTENCE PRISON

	After the defenses, the court board once again sentenced Gezgör to 7 years and 6 months in prison for "being a member of a terrorist organization".
