'We can break the international silence against Imrali with struggle' 2023-07-10 16:29:57   NEWS CENTER - Stating that the inability to hear from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan causes outrage, KONGRA-GEL said: "The lawlessness must end now," and called on international institutions to take action and the Kurdish people and their friends to fight against isolation.   The statements about the delivery of threatening letters to PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has not been heard from for 28 months in İmralı Type F Prison, where he was held in severe isolation conditions, increased public concerns. The KONGRA-GEL Co-Presidency Council stated that a public statement should be made regarding the health and safety conditions of PKK Leader Öcalan and called on the public to "come together around Abdullah Öcalan".   ENEMY TO THE KURDISH PEOPLE   KONGRA-GEL in the Fırat News Agency (ANF) statement emphasized that silence against unlawfulness in Imrali is unacceptable. Stating that the Imrali isolation system is unique in the world, the statement said: “Mr. Öcalan completed 24 years in a solitary cell, now he is in his 25th year. No information has been received from him for 28 months. He is unable to meet with his family and lawyers. He is constantly being banned for 6 months with disciplinary punishments for reasons such as throwing a volley, looking left and right, reading a book. Arbitrary and deliberate disciplinary punishments, not being allowed to meet with his family and lawyers, Imralı Island being excluded from all international laws, and the silence of relevant international institutions in the face of these unlawful practices are unprecedented in the world. The only reason for this is the hostility towards the thoughts of Rêber Apo and the Kurdish people in his person.   CALL INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS   KONGRA-GEL called on international institutions, especially the United Nations (UN), the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and said: "The absolute isolation conditions imposed on Rêber(Leader) Apo are all is against the law. Your silence against this lawlessness is in no way acceptable. You must take action on the life and health of Rêber Apo and put an end to the unlawfulness in Imrali Prison. You should give clear information to our people and the public about the life and health of Rêber Apo."
