Journalist accused without evidence 2023-04-21 14:21:53   DİYARBAKIR- In the indictment of imprisoned journalist Elif Üngür, it was stated that "evidence belonging to the suspect could not be obtained" and a penalty was demanded for "being a member of a terrorist organization".   Journalist Elif Üngür, who is imprisoned in Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison, is wanted to be punished, along with 17 of her colleagues, 14 of whom are imprisoned, for "being a member of a terrorist organization". Journalists will appear before a judge at the Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court on July 11. In the section of the indictment about Üngür, the contents of the Media Culture program he presented were made the subject of accusation.   KURDISH CULTURE FESTIVAL WAS ACCEPTED AS CRIMINAL EVIDENCE   In the indictment, it was stated that no "evidence" about Üngür was found among the "evidence" seized during the raids on production companies at the time the journalists were detained; however, the contents of the Media Culture program presented by Üngür were shown as criminal evidence right after.   The contents of the program on Newroz, cultural events in Northern and Eastern Syria, and books with a confiscation order were deemed a crime. The presentation about the Istanbul Kurdish Film Festival, "The festival started with great interest. The festival opened with the movie Ezidi Kurds, shot in 1933. The festival started with respect for those who lost their lives in the freedom struggle, especially Halil DAG and Hacı Lokman BIRLIK".   In the indictment, it was claimed that the contents of the programs were made with the instructions of the organization.   IT WAS A CRIME FOR NOT TELLING WHERE TO GO!   In the indictment, the meeting in question was described as a "suspicious meeting". In addition, the fact that M. did not give any information about his destination to Üngür in the phone call was considered as "concealed speech". The following assessment was made regarding M.'s failure to provide information about her destination: "Considering that the person named Elif Üngür is the host of the program named 'Media-Kültür' and that the suspect acted in line with the aims and objectives of the terrorist organization from the contents of the program, the person, she met with was terrorized within the scope of the organization's activities, can participate in the rural structuring (...)"
