In Edirne F Type, prisoners handcuffed to the stretcher 2023-04-20 14:23:23   ANKARA - The prisoners, who stated that they were exposed to rights violations in Edirne Type F Prison, said that ill prisoners were tried to be treated by handcuffing them to stretchers.   While the prisoners in prisons face numerous violations of their rights, the arbitrary practices in the prison and the isolation practices of the prisoners are also deeply felt. Nevzat Özer and Hüseyin Özen, who were imprisoned in Edirne Type F Prison, talked about the rights violations they get through in the prison they were in, in letters they wrote.   'ILL PRISONERS ARE HANDCUFFED TO THE STRETCHER'   Expressing that they have been subjected to numerous violations of rights in his letter, Özer said: “Two people staying in the same cell cannot write a letter to their mutual friend. When we ask why, the only answer we get is 'forbidden'. Recent postage increases also make it very difficult for us to write letters and faxes. We are faced with many practices like this that aggravate the isolation. Our right to chat, access to books and publications, letters, phone calls and visits is restricted. The right to treatment is prevented by impositions such as the practice of single ring cells, not removing the handcuffs in the hospital, handcuffing to the soldier or to the stretcher. Those who are sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment are taken to ventilation for 1 hour a day.”
