Gökkan's 22 years and 6 months prison sentence upheld 2023-04-19 14:56:35 AMED - Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice upheld the 22 years and 6 months prison sentence given to TJA Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan.   Diyarbakir Regional Court of Justice, 9th Penal Chamber, Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) Spokesperson of Diyarbakir 9th Heavy Penal Court, Ayşe Gökkan, by moving away from the lower border, upheld the verdict that he sentenced her to 12 years in prison for "being a member of a terrorist organization", 7 years and 6 months for "being a member of a terrorist organization" and 3 years for "making propaganda for a terrorist organization".   Evaluating the objection made by Gökkan's lawyers against the decision of the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court on October 20, 2021, the 9th Penal Chamber of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice rejected the appeal on the merits.   In its decision, which it rejected on the grounds that “there was no inaccuracy in the verdict”, the Court of Appeal included the following statements: “The trial held, the content of the file and the minutes of the hearing, the legally valid and appropriate evidence shown and discussed at the place of decision, the belief and discretion of the court as a result of the investigation, the formation and nature of the crime. According to the appropriate acceptance and implementation, the quality and degree of the reasons increasing or decreasing the punishment are appreciated, the defense is rejected with credible reasons, the grounds of appeal are not found in place, according to the justification explained as lawful, legal and sufficient, the grounds of appeal were not found in place, In accordance with the first sentence of Article /1-a, the appeal is rejected on the merits…”   The Court of Appeal did not accept the objection to Gökkan's detention on the grounds that the judicial control provisions would be insufficient, and decided to continue the detention of Gökkan.
