Feed and shelter needs for animals in the earthquake area 2023-02-18 14:20:13   MARAŞ - In the town of Pazarcık, the epicenter of the earthquake, there is a need for feed and shelter for animals left outside due to the destruction of barns.   According to official data, in the earthquakes that occurred on February 6 in the Pazarcık district of Maraş and affected 10 cities; 39 thousand 672 people have lost their lives so far, more than a hundred thousand people have been injured. Thousands of houses were destroyed in earthquake areas. The earthquake affected not only humans, but all living things. While the loss of life is given in the balance sheet announced by AFAD, it is not known how many animals died. Considering that almost all the barns were destroyed, it is estimated that thousands of animals died under the rubble.   In every rural neighborhood we shot in the town of Pazarcık, the epicenter of the earthquake, the death toll is quite high. The death toll in some of the rural neighborhoods, especially in mountainous regions, has reached 2,000.   SHELTER AND FEED NEEDS   The surviving animals, on the other hand, are kept outside in the cold weather as there is no barn or any shelter. This causes animals to die. The fact that the feed and food needs of animals are not met also causes an increase in deaths. Citizens we met in rural neighborhoods want animal feed or food to be among the donations. Citizens demanded that animal barracks be sent to prevent their remaining animals from dying of cold.   MA / Azad Altay - Abdurrahman Gök
