Prisoner held despite the report 'He cannot stay in prison' 2023-01-22 11:36:47   HAKKARİ - Condemning the fact that her seriously ill imprisoned husband, Gıyasettin Sevmiş, was not released despite the report that he "cannot stay in prison", Sultan Sevmiş said: "Does he have to be on his deathbed to be released?"   The health condition of Gıyasettin Sevmiş, a seriously ill prisoner in Van High Security Prison, is deteriorating. Sevmiş, who was arrested on charges of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization" and sentenced to life imprisonment for 16 years, was diagnosed with Wilson's disease (a hereditary disease resulting from the accumulation of copper in the liver, brain and other vital organs) 11 years ago. Sevmiş also has diseases such as cirrhosis, diabetes, migraine, visual impairment, shrinkage in his brain, vascular occlusion, and Hapatit B. In addition, as a result of the surgery she had in June 2017, a pacemaker was inserted in Sevmiş's heart. Sevmiş was treated at Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital in Amed on March 11, 2014, and a report of "he cannot stay in prison" was given regarding his health status; however, despite the report, the evacuation was blocked.   'MY HUSBAND AND ALL SERIOUSLY ILL PRISONERS SHOULD BE RELEASED'   Stating that "there is persecution" about what her husband went through, Sultan Sevmiş said: "My husband had contracted many diseases during his 16-year detention. The last time I saw it openly, it looked bad. He said he was fine so we wouldn't be upset. Does he have to be on his deathbed to be released? He is not treated. He is held in a single cell. My husband and all seriously ill prisoners should be released and treated as soon as possible"
